HIGH SCHOOL KIDS ARE BUILDING A BATTLESTAR GALACTICA VIPER FLIGHT SIMULATOR

This is actually four high school students and an 8th grader so feel the shame in the thought that their combined technological and computing brain power is 100 times more awesome than you’ll ever even know how to dream about.

I digress. This is a post for us to see how awesome students can be. This video is a display of their project from their Kickstarter page. They have exceeded their goal of raising $2,500. I love the incentives they offered donors..

They salvaged the fuselage of a Piper Cherokee. They installed a racing seat with a six-point harness and used Autodesk Inventor to create the frame for the motion. The simulator will be equipped with three front screens, control joystick, thrusters, and a fully working cockpit simulating the one in the real Battlestar Galactica Vipers. See the video below.
