A sardine in space is completely believable. A sardine with hands would make me think this picture were photoshopped. No hands? Seems legit. Anyway, I made this graphic for a game that Peter Eicher of Avalon Youth submitted. Here’s how you play…

Have several guy volunteers sit on their knees with their hands behind their backs. Each guy has a girl Partner who has a catapult (plastic spoon) and a couple cans of sardines. The girls stand back a bit, and launch sardines with the plastic spoons to try to get them to the mouths of the guys. Each sardine caught counts as 1 point. Caught and eaten counts as 2!

Well we did this last week. It was a hit, everyone was thoroughly grossed out, by the smell, flying sardine parts, and that the guys caught them in the mouth. The girls weren’t very excited about catching them. Overall it was a hit.

    Two observations:
1 Drain the sardines if they come in water before you hand them to the girls.
2 Get a tarp, or even better plastic drop cloth that can be tossed after the game. It is messy, and you don’t want fish guts all over the place.
