SEISMOS 2011

Conferences are a great way to hear about new ideas, connect with people, and share ideas. Some of the things that happen at conferences that are memorable are the things that happen outside of the sessions. Connecting with people in casual environments help foster community and cultivate leadership discoveries and insights.

Seismos is a three day un-conference that focuses on placing you in an intimate setting with other youth ministry practitioners, discussing how to mold your ministry into all that God wants it to be. The cool thing about Seismos is that it’s pretty cheap. Your lodging, food, and conference experience is only $100. CRAZ-EEE! All Seismos events are co-facilitated by leading names in youth ministry and actual youth pastors.  And everyone joins in the conversation, so if you’re not sure how something applies, you can just interrupt and ask to find out. That’s pretty epic.

The next Seismos is March 28th and is facilitated by Scot McKnight. The experience covers theologically responsible youth ministry. In May there will be a Seismos on Brain Development by Mark Oestreicher.

Seismos leaders at play.

having been part of the last two gatherings…this is an incredible opportunity to be part of a great conversation.

last year marko helped to facilitate an amazing conversation on the mind of an adolescent. He’ll be part of a similar conversation for the south site this year.

hope you’ll consider being part of either of these opportunities.

Best youth ministry gathering/conference/retreat I’ve ever been apart of.

I went last year and it was fantastic! The only reason I am not going back this year is because of scheduling. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn in a laid back but focused environment…all with some of the greatest minds in ministry!

siesmos was the best opportunity to actually contribute to and work out the subject matters covered at a conference i’ve experienced.
