Here is another game submitted by Wes Brisco. The game is called impossible shot. I had fun making the graphic for it and it sounds like a great game. Here is how Wes put it…

Leader Lob reminded me of a game we always play before a big event. You might want to wait before posting since the games are so much alike.

We call it “The Impossible Shot”

Play this game before a big event to promote the event and let your students win some free tickets to a DNOW, concert you have planned, or anything on the calender that cost money.

We place a toilet seat some place high and in a open spot in our room. Then we take a roll of toilet paper and wrap it up with clear tape so it won’t come unraveled.

It’s as easy as it sounds. Pick a place to throw from in the room that sounds impossible and have the students throw the TP in the toilet seat. If anybody makes it through, the crowd goes wild and we typically give them a GREAT prize. We have given free trips to mission trip, free voucher for church camp, donated ipods, and lots more. Nobody made the shot 5 or so weeks in a row so we just had one student come up each week until somebody finally made it.

We draw raffle tickets to pick volunteers or draw names out of a bucket. Depending on time we try to get 5-8 volunteers up and three shots a piece. Don’t actually make the shot impossible and give everybody a fair chance to make it. The name just is for intimidation.

We have also played variations of this game with croquet. We make the volunteers dress like goofy old school golfers and then try to make a crazy croquet shot down the center of the crowd. It’s easy on time and lots of fun! Enjoy!

We did this game at my old church with a bucket in the corner of the room and a tennis ball from the stage. In 2 years I think we had 5 people make the shot. But you would have thought that the student on stage got Gold at the olympics when they made it. they were a star all day. it was pretty awesome.

We played this game for about a year and a half. It was a staple everytime we had a “normal” night of Youth Group. It began as a $5 gift card to Target and every week we did it, the prize increased by $5. We finally had a student win it in January, with the absolute worst shot ever (it bounced of a hanging garland, the ceiling a pipe and into the bucket). He walked away with $235.00 to Target. He was mobbed as if he just kicked the game winning goal in the World Cup.

how high up are we talking about as far as placing the seat? and is that the key or the location of the shot the key? i wish i could see this on video i guess, hard time visualizing it completely.

good question. i think you try different spots yourself and a few team members to see what is easy and what is difficult.

We’re gonna try this with our jr. high students for the next few weeks. We’re using a Nerf basketball hoop instead of a toilet seat, so I re-worked the graphic around a basketball theme. Feel free to use it if you like.
